Business Owner of Marinor Enterprise and Former Leader of the Dominica Freedom Party Michael Astaphan, is concerned over the statements made by Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit on Climate resilient development. Based on the work record of the Prime Minister, the Former DFP Leader does not believe Mr Skerrit will be able to lead the government, to effectively develop Dominica’s economy post hurricane Maria. Astaphan says for years the Prime Minister has been making statements of building a resilient Dominica, and according to him, he has failed on his promises of building a climate resilient economy prior to Hurricane Maria in 2017. Meantime, Astaphan is disappointed in the Government’s decision to sideline Dominica’s Private Sector, in rebuilding Dominica’s economy in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Astaphan says joint ventures should have been encouraged between local & foreign construction firms, to ensure employment opportunities are offered to Dominicans, and to fill the void in human resources which exist in Dominica, according to Dominica’s Prime Minister.
