Former Government Minister, Atherton Martin, says Dominica has exposed itself to a position of extreme peril. His comments come following a recent report from US Homeland security which indicates that they will identify, extract and neutralize any terrorist threat to the United States from 191 countries worldwide, and will enact serious restrictions upon countries and persons who are found to participate in terrorist activity by July 21st 2017. According to Martin, the report further states that Homeland Security will unleash travel bans to all countries and persons involved directly or indirectly to the facilitation of terrorists, terrorist groups and their organizations. He expressed particularly concern over the stipulation concerning countries which are likely to offer a safe haven to individuals who could be considered a terrorist threat. There have been suggestions that Dominica's government may have been involved in the cover up of Iranian national Alireza Monfared who was arrested on allegations of being involved in Iran's biggest ever corruption scandal.
