The donations were made in the form of cheque presentation at a special ceremony at the Public Service Building Wednesday. President Charles Savarin explained the level of damage that the institutions suffered from Hurricane Maria. Meantime, he says another needy institution the foundation was able to greatly assist is the Grotto Home for the Homeless, which has been in a very difficult situation for several years. The Board of the Grotto Home has been anticipating moving the patients to a more permanent and stable location, but to date this has been unsuccessful. President of Dominica H.E Charles Savarin
The ceremony was attended by Minister for Social Services Catherine Daniel, Minister for Education Petter St Jean, and Former Minister for Education Rupert Sorhaindo, among other special invited guests. The Charitable Organizations are the Dominica Association of Persons with Disabilities, St Jerome's Ministry, Dominica Council on Ageing, REACH, House of Hope, St Vincent de Paul Society, Dominica Dementia Foundation, Lupus Foundation of Dominica, the Social Centre, Mahaut Senior Citizens Home, Grotto Home for the Homeless, Workshop for the Blind and the Alpha centre.
