Funding for two state-of-the-art Regional Emergency Hurricane Shelters are in the pipelines to be constructed for Dominica.
This is according to Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, who says that funding for these shelters have been made available to the Government of Dominica so that works can commence soon.
He says they will be multipurpose facilities, but their main functions will be geared towards the hurricane season.
Minister of Finance says that it’s not possible to have a hurricane shelter in every village in Dominica, but they aim to have regional centers with proper washrooms and kitchens and other amenities to ensure that persons can stay there for long periods of time.
