Ground Breaking Ceremony for $51.3Million Rehabilitation of EO Leblanc Highway set for Friday8/17/2017 The ground breaking ceremony for a $51.3Million rehabilitation of EO Leblanc Highway is set for Friday. The works are said to have become necessary following the ravages of TS Erika in 2015.
According to Minister for Public Works & Ports Mirium Blanchard, the ceremony is the culmination of more than a year of preparatory work on the project. She says, the government of Dominica appreciates the patience of the travelling public to date, and solicits their continued tolerance as the work is in progress. The project will cover rehabilitation of identified damaged areas along the 45km along the EO Leblanc Highway, as a gift to the people of Dominica from the government of the People's Republic of China. PM Roosevelt Skerrit has stressed that Dominica's good relations with the PRC, has led to the execution of some critical infrastructure projects. He says the Chinese government has always demonstrated its friendship to Dominica, especially during difficult circumstances. The ground breaking ceremony for the rehabilitation works takes place in Macoucherie tomorrow Friday 18th August 2017, from 4pm.
