Head of The University of The University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus, Dominica Kimone Joseph described the response of Dominicans to the Continuing Professional Education programs offered at the campus as truly astounding.
Summer 1 which offered 7 courses saw 190 participants enrolled in the program. Joseph is of the opinion the programs continuous success results from the fact that there are quality programs, tutors who give up their time and talent and students who are eager to learn and participate. “We are one of the top 5% of universities in the entire world and we are very proud of that and we were just recently reaccredited by the Barbados Accreditation Board so student know that what they are getting from the open campus is really something of substance whether it is a certificate program, a Continuing Professional Education program or degree program, they know that they are profiting from something that is among the best in the world.” said Ms. Joseph at the certificate ceremony for Summer 1 on Tuesday. Summer 2 began on Monday July 29, 2019. From his analysis of the program, UWI Senior Administrative Assistant Barry Casimir stated that in Dominica, capacity building is key; if there are good human resources, it develops your institution and can only mean well for your organization.
