A meeting between the Ministry of health and Solid Waste Department and people of Stockfarm Wednesday is said to have yielded positive results on the way forward in addressing garbage disposal and maintaining a cleaner and healthier environment for the people of that community. The Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation and the Environmental health department took a decision Wednesday to stop the dumping of old galvanize on the Stockfarm playing field effective January 11th. The decision was taken at a meeting between the two institutions this week as part of a special campaign by the Solid Waste Corporation under the theme "Let's Beautify our Surroundings." PRO Jeno Jacob says the corporation and the vector control department met with Stockfarm residents to discuss the matter. He says it is important that dumping of galvanize in that area be stopped. Concerns have also been raised by the public that collection days being mentioned by the Solid Waste officials should be done one day earlier.
