IRC now claims that it will finally reveal its statements on the results of its consultations & its findings regarding DOMLEC’s Weighted Average Cost of Capital, to address a possible electricity rate increase

​For much of 2024 the Independent Regulatory Commission (IRC) has been in talks and consultation sessions with Dominica’s sole National Electricity Provider (DOMLEC) on its Tariff Review.
 
Dominicans everywhere have expressed concern to IRC, DOMLEC and the Skerrit Administration, regarding the possible increase in cost for Electricity Bills in Dominica. Today the IRC claimed it is now undergoing its final decision on DOMLEC’s Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC), which it says will be published on October 11, 2024.
 
The IRC’s WACC consultation period is as follows: On July 5, 2024, the initial findings of the negotiations was made public - Responses were then closed on August 14, 2024 - then comments on the first response were received and the second document on the ongoing negotiations were published, on September 12, 2024. – Afterwhich Responses were closed on September 27, 2024. - Now statements on the results and the IRC’s decision will be published on October 11, 2024.
