Jade Romain of Gutter Village outshined 6 other ladies to win coveted Miss Dominica 2017 Crown3/1/2017 Jade Romain of Gutter Village outshined six other ladies to win the coveted Miss Dominica 2017 title, at Eddie Andre Carnival City on Friday night, 24th February 2017. The new Miss Dominica is an employee of the National Cooperative Credit Union (NCCU), who was also her sponsor. Her leadership project platform was “Mental Health” The highly anticipated event kicked off on Friday at the Eddie Andre Carnival City where seven (7) contestants Jade Romain, Esther Francis, Ketisha Joseph, Teresa Lewis, Gabrielle Abraham, Zethra Baron, and Karla Henry, competed in five categories: costume, talent, swimwear, evening wear and question and answer. Romain picked up four awards; Best in costume, Best swimwear, Best in swimwear, and Best evening wear.
Karla Henry of Mahaut placed second, and won the awards for Best in evening wear, Best response to Question, and Miss Photogenic. Terisa Lewis of Bath Estate placed third. Gabrielle Abraham of Upper Goodwill received the awards for Best performing talent, and the Leadership Award for Best community project. Zethra Baron of Fond St. Jean won the Best Costume award. Esther Francis of Goodwill was awarded Miss Amity. The other competitor was Ketisha Joseph of Massacre.
