In what is now being considered one the most controversially charged elections in Dominica, one which saw spending like no other, many millions in campaigning, bribes, civil protest, police brutality and intimidation, bloated lists, lack of reform and imported voters. The DLP resumes office in Dominica as government for another five years, one that would see them in power for 25 years. Leader of the opposition Lennox in a public address over the weekend says that the elections were stolen ,and was not free and fair, and says that the UWP does not recognize these results to be true reflections of the Dominican people and s calling for re-elections. The results of this year’s elections saw an 18-3 victory for the DLP. Mean time the OAS and CARICOM observers of the elections, say that the elections were free and fair despite the fact that the DLP have not implemented any of the recommendations made by the OAS, CARICOM and other international organizations. It has been revealed to the public that that the DLP government has paid for over thousands of persons to come into Dominica to vote. Word on the ground is that it believed that the DLP has paid for and given cash to well over: 1000Dominicans via St. Lucia. 1800 via Antigua 700 from St. Thomas 600 via Martinique 1400 via Guadeloupe 300 via Barbados 1700 from mainland US to vote in this year’s elections. Many of those overseas visitor voters could not leave Dominica because their names were not placed on the charted and connected flights back to the diaspora where they came from. This created serious problems at airports, as there were hundreds of persons who were stuck at the airports with airplanes lining up in Dominica to fly persons back home.
