PPOD Leader Sapphire Carrington has expressed her party’s views regarding the DLP proposed Anti Terrorism Act. On June 25th, 2018, the Skerrit administration will seek parliamentary approval for the Anti-Terrorism Bill 2018 which unlike similar pieces of legislation in other Caribbean jurisdictions contains no provisions excluding generally accepted forms of dissent in a democracy from the classification of “terrorist act”. Carrington says as a growing alternative for governance in Dominica, her party is prepared to ensure that the freedoms and rights of citizens are protected and to lead the country into real prosperity, within a short period of time. Speaking to Q95 news on Thursday, Carrington says PPOD supports the international community’s perspective on combating terrorism globally. Additionally, the PPOD Leader went on to list some recommendations which she says will significantly serve the best interest of Dominica, if adopted into the DLP’s proposed Anti Terrorism Act.
