Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Family and Gender Affairs Helen Royer that families in Dominica are more resilient now than ever. She says following Hurricane Maria, families of Dominica were one major concern on which the Ministry focused, as many were dislocated, creating worrying possibilities of sexual abuse among other things. She noted that it is advisable for families to stay together during times of natural disasters. She says displaced families have been given a lot of assistance, as this is restoring core values and stronger family bonds in Dominica. She added that the government has put programs in place to help those who are still struggling, and has provided moral support and other important needs, thereby further helping to build resilience. Royer says the ministry has continued to assist families in ways that transcend physical assistance. Family & Gender Affairs Ministry Permanent Secretary, Helen Royer
