National Security Minister Rayburn Blackmoore insists investigations into the 7th February disturbances in Roseau are still ongoing, despite reports that the CARICOM Special investigators allegedly found no evidence to suggest that there was any attempted coup. Blackmoore made that disclosure on a local radio program last week. Reports had surfaced last week alleging that the four (4) investigators who were contracted by the Government of Dominica had finished their investigations, and left the Island, and found no evidence to support Prime Minister Skerrit’s statement that he had received evidence that the opposition parties, UWP and DFP, had planned a coup to overthrow his DLP Government, during the disturbances which took place in Roseau on 7th February 2017. On the night of 7th February 2017, violence engulfed Roseau several hours after a peaceful meeting organized by the Opposition Parties in Dominica calling for the resignation of PM Roosevelt Skerrit, had come to an end. Three high ranking members of the United Workers Party and one member of the Dominica Freedom Party were subsequently arrested and questioned by police for several hours, and then released. Only Claudius Sanford of the United Workers Party; the former UWP Deputy Leader and Senator was charged with ‘obstruction’.
