That’s according to Festival and Events Manager at the Dominica Festival Committee (DFC), Val Cuffy. He made that disclosure at a meeting for Carnival stakeholders on Wednesday. Cuffy blamed this on logistical challenges, in terms of preparations for the young ladies, since the contestants have not even been selected to date. He stated, “We are hoping that April 2018 will give us a little bit more time in terms of getting the girls ready for the regional pageants”. Cuffy added however, that the Carnival revelry will take place providing there is support. He said the DFC is planning to have a media launch of Carnival 2018 on December 5, 2017. Several new activities for Carnival 2018 were proposed during the meeting, including a carnival award ceremony, carnival road trips, street festivals and a carnival movie night, which would show reruns of past carnival events. Two J’ouvert mornings was also suggested and discussed.
