Opposition Leader Lennox Linton says the UWP is happy to be aligned with the People’s Republic of China’s position against corruption. He says he hopes one day to see the governing DLP take on the same posture as the Chinese, who believe it is better to lose face than to lose integrity. Linton is of the view that state resources must be protected for the benefit of the people for whom they are is intended. Meanwhile, Linton says the UWP does in fact support the “One China” policy. Speaking at a UWP Press Conference following the party’s official trip to China on Tuesday, Linton said the UWP took this stance years ago, without having any negotiations with that country.
He explained that the ‘One China Policy’ simply recognizes all territories that belonged to China before its internal challenges, still remain its properties. He said it is in this regard that the UWP recognizes the “One China” policy and will continue to support it until the “territorial integrity issue of China will be amicably resolved”.
