Opposition Leader Lennox Linton is challenging Prime Minister Skerrit to turn in the contractors whom he claims, have stolen Government funds. At a recent ceremony celebrating the opening of a Smart Centre in Grand Fond, Prime Minister Skerrit said he had a problem with contractors who used Government resources for unintended purposes, and issued a strong warning that they will not receive any more Government contracts, if the work is not properly executed. Linton says, if the Prime Minister has firm evidence of these thefts, then it becomes his duty to report these actions to the police who can take further actions after the appropriate investigations are carried out. Linton is of the view that the contractors in question were given the contracts, because of their affiliation with the DLP, regardless as to whether or not they were capable of doing the job.
According to the Opposition Leader, the Prime Minister is now turning on his supporters, and called on him to stop this behavior, and conduct himself in a more honorable fashion in Government.
