Leader of the United Workers Party Lennox Linton says the continued oppressive strategies being carried out by the Dominica Labour Party Government, has now become ridiculous. Recently a young man, namely Carlton Alexander from the gutter village was arrested, and was asked by law enforcement authorities; “were you paid by the United Workers Party to take part in a coup?” Linton says this question alone indicates the Government’s agenda to justify their claim that the UWP and DFP organized an attempted coup. Linton is also of the view that the hierarchy of the DLP Leadership is giving directives to the Dominica Police Force, to frame the UWP and the DFP Executive, as the ones who planned an alleged attempted Coup against the Government, several hours after a peaceful public meeting hosted by the UWP & the DFP on 7th February 2017, had already ended. Linton says the continued arrests of members of the UWP Executive, and civilians alike, are irrational and unconstitutional. Meanwhile, the IMPACS Group was recently requested by CARICOM to investigate the recent unrest which occurred on 7th February 2017.
Q95 FM radio received reports from a reliable source, that this investigation was concluded and the team left a copy of the report on the desks of Dominica’s Chief of Police Daniel Carbon, the Minister of National Security Rayburn Blackmore, and Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit. It is alleged that the report concluded that there was no evidence to substantiate the claims of an attempted Coup. Opposition leader Lennox Linton is now requesting that the IMPACS group release the findings of their recent investigations to the general public.
