The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Opportunities to Advance and Support Youth for Success (OASYS) Project successfully concluded a Positive Youth Development Trainer-of-Trainers Workshop, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The workshop, held in Saint Lucia from August 19 to 22, 2024, aimed to equip youth advocates and juvenile justice specialists with essential tools to foster positive growth among young people.
The three-day workshop emphasized the Positive Youth Development (PYD) framework, which promotes meaningful youth engagement by integrating their ideas, perspectives, skills, and strengths into interventions, programs, and policies. Program Director at the OECS Commission, Dr. Roxanne Brizan of St. Martin, highlighted the workshop's connection to the OASYS Project, which focuses on enhancing child and youth justice systems across 6 OECS Member States. She stressed the importance of youth as the foundation for sustainable development in small island nations.
