Leader of the Peoples Party of Dominica (PPOD) Sapphire Carrington, is calling on all Dominicans to get into the practice of holding their leaders accountable, and especially in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Carrington says the financial aid pledged to Dominica by international donors, must be used for its intended purpose. She is pleased that transparency has been demanded by donors, to ensure that their funds will be used appropriately. Dominica’s Government is now mandated to provide evidential reports to international donors, on the progress of recovery projects, and the ways in which every donation is spent. Meanwhile, Carrington says Government should not invest in Carnival 2018, if the event will not make profits for Dominica’s economy, on the heels of Hurricane Maria. Carrington wants logic to prevail in Government actions during the post Hurricane Maria period. She says the international community is watching and tracking how Dominica uses its donations, for future engagements. PPOD leader, Sapphire Carrington
