President of the Dominica Nurses Association (DNA), Rosie Felix, has reported that since the establishment of the Quality Improvement Department over ten years ago, due to the advocacy of the DNA and the Medical Association, the department is under staffed and not functioning at optimum. Felix is requesting that the Minister of Health, Dr. Kenneth Darroux, to ask the Quality control department for a report outlining the use of the extra $5 million dollars which he announced was added to the budget of his ministry. Meantime, Felix is reporting that the Association has written to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry Health, clearly outlining the association’s position on the removal of transportation services to Health professionals on island. Felix says the Ministry of health should be looking at ways to significantly improve transportation services for Health Officials in Dominica, and not resort to removing such services.
