Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit will address the MEDays Forum, taking place in Tangier. He departed Dominica for Morocco on November 27 and is set to return to Dominica on November 30, 2024. The forum which is organized by the Amadeus Institute, and is hosted under the theme “Sovereignties and Resilience: Towards a New Global Balance,” brings together world leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss critical global challenges and opportunities.
Mr Skerrit hopes to focus on the urgent need for international collaboration to strengthen resilience in an era marked by climate crises, economic disruptions, and shifting geopolitical dynamics. He plans to highlight Dominica's vulnerability to climate change, emphasize the nation's ambitious goal to become the world's first climate-resilient country, and call on the world's largest economies to take greater responsibility for addressing the climate crisis. The Dominican leader will also make a case for fairer trade practices, enhanced access to sustainable financing and investment in green technology and renewable energy to benefit small island states. During his visit to Morocco, Prime Minister Skerrit will hold discussions with the country's Foreign Affairs Minister to explore opportunities for strengthening cooperation and bilateral relations.
