Photo: Dominican Post Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit told a Labour Party rally on Sunday that he is not in politics for fame or fortune. He told the gathering of DLP supporters,"I am in politics to create a better way of life of my people". While many within the Opposition are calling for his resignation and that of his cabinet, Skerrit asked why would he go and leave the fate of the country in the hands of the Opposition, whom he claims have no plausible alternative policies for development. Meantime, Skerrit is dismissing rumours of an early general election, saying that the DLP Government is far from finished with its duties, therefore, an election will not be called in the near future.
Speaking at a Labour Party Rally in Portsmouth on Sunday, Skerrit stated that the DLP Government is occupied with rebuilding the country, and reinforcing its systems against future natural disasters. He says the Opposition UWP is free to call an election if they so wish, or resign from their positions and allow by-elections to be called.
