Prime Minister Skerrit says a consultant was hired in 2016 to review and strengthen the CBI Program2/20/2017 Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says a consultant has been hired to strengthen CBI program. Speaking on a local radio program on Friday, the prime minister said the consultant was hired last year to independently assess diplomatic appointments as well as create a more transparent program. He says he expects a report from the consultant in the near future. Dominica’s CBI program has recently come under fire after the arrest of Iranian national Ali Reza Monfared, on allegations of his involvement in a corruption scandal. The information created unrest within the society, and resulted in the Parliamentary Opposition leading a “peaceful protest meeting” in the capital city Roseau, calling for the resignation of the Prime Minister and his Cabinet.
Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Lennox Linton says Prime Minister Skerrit’s statement that a consultant had been engaged to review Dominica’s CBI program, is now being made due to pressure from the international community. Linton reacted to the prime minister’s statement by requesting the consultant’s report. He regards the PM’s statement as just another story, because the DLP Administration is still not revealing the names of the Diplomats who are out there representing Dominica in the international community.
