Public servants to receive “double bubble” salary in November, plus 3% back pay from July to October11/2/2017 Public servants are now looking forward to receiving the so-called “double bubble” equivalent to two months’ salary, at the end of November, which was part of the deal worked out between the Dominica Public Service Union (DPSU) and government, during negotiations for the 2015-2018 triennium.
At the end of December, they also expect to receive a 3% salary increase, plus retroactive pay for the period July to October 2017. DPSU General Secretary Thomas Letang made that announcement on state-owned DBS Radio yesterday. The “double bubble” was supposed to have been paid out by the end of September, but that did not materialize. Letang added that they were expecting payment at the end of October, but that did not take place, so they wrote to government expressing concern, and requested the reasons why the payment was not made. He said government responded within three days, and stated that due to technical difficulties experienced at various ministries, and at the accountant general’s office after the passage of Hurricane Maria, additional time was needed to process the payments. Letang said the public officers will be happy to receive these payments, and made it clear that the DPSU remains proactive on the matter.
