​Roseau Central MP calls yesterday’s public meeting hosted by the UWP and DFP a ‘protest of the people’. 
 
Isaac stated that the meeting was the people’s way a way to show their disgust against government’s policies, and its mismanagement of the economy, as well as its lack of transparency and accountability as regards the DLP government’s CBI program and its alleged sales of Dominica’s Diplomatic Passports.
 
Isaacs said “We are here this afternoon so that the people of Dominica can publicly demonstrate their disgust with the diplomatic passport issues, and we expect a large number of people here today to show their disgust, and demonstrate their disgust. And this is because we as Dominicans need to stand up for what is right”. He also noted that young as well as older citizens need to understand that they have to protect the integrity of Dominica, by standing up for what is right.
 
Isaac said this public meeting “is just the beginning” of what they have planned to protest against the government. “We find ourselves in a situation where we have a few people getting rich on the sale of what is our birth-right, our citizenship, while the masses are suffering. The masses have nothing to eat. The masses can’t even pay for their children to go to school comfortably, in terms of uniform and books and bus fare for those at the college. The masses, which are public officers, get nothing in terms of increase in salary, but yet still we have a few people benefiting from our citizenship, our birth-right,” Isaac said.
 
Isaac added that the opposition is not against the principle and concept of the Economic Citizenship Program; however, they not pleased with the manner in which the Dominica Labour Party is running the program, as “it lacks transparency and openness, and is not running in the interest of the entire country, but only in the interest of the few who are benefitting”.
 
Isaac called the gathering a people’s movement, and if at the end of the day they are not pleased with the results, the people will decide the next stage, and will decide what’s next.
