Roseau Primary School Parents continued protest action today against the transfer of principal of the Principal Greta Roberts’, back to the Goodwill Primary School, where she had previously served for some 15 years. Roberts has been principal at the school for the past eight years, but she was transferred to the Goodwill Primary School, without the knowledge of the parents of the students. However, the parents are not happy, and are demanding that the Ministry of Education reverse that decision. Matt Peltier interviewed several of the parents on Q95 today, and this is what some of them had to say: “We want our Greta back…she is going nowhere, she has taken the school from nothing and brought it way up”. Another parent said she has four children at the school, and she is quite satisfied with the quality of the work that was being done by Roberts. She said, “I had taken them out of the school, but when Ms Roberts came in as Principal, and from what I saw, I got them transferred back to the school, and I am happy. Ms Roberts uses her own money for the development of the school, she is caring and loving, and we love her. She is a leader, and her teachers are also very happy with her”. Here are some more parents in their own words: Education officials are presently discussing the matter, but reports appear to indicate that Robert’s transfer will remain in effect.
Ms Sarah Serrant Abraham is the replacement for Ms Roberts. She had been serving as acting principal at the Isaiah Thomas Secondary School. Meanwhile, the parents have vowed to continue protesting, and stated that they will not be sending their children to school until their demands are met, and want the authorities to know that they will be coming to the school every day to continue their demands”.
