Shian Brathwaite smashed an unbeaten score of 89 to lead the Barbados A-Team to a 65-run victory over a Dominica U23, in a cricket match at Benjamin’s Park in Portsmouth, in the first T20 doubleheader. Dominica won the toss and decided to field first and openers Shian Brathwaite and Kadeem Alleyne fired the Barbados team to a first wicket partnership of 79 in 7.4 overs.
Brathwaite belted 7 fours and 5 sixes in his knock of 89 from 66 deliveries while Kadeem Alleyne struck 5 huge sixes and 3 fours during his destructive innings before he fell to Micah Joseph for 52. Zachary McCaskie also came in and contributed 44 from 29 to add more pressure on the Dominica bowlers. Barbados A eventually ended their innings on 191/1 in their allotted 20 overs. Micah Joseph taking 1/25 in 2 overs. Dominica in reply were given some hope by a quick-fire start from Alick Athanaze and Micah Joseph. The openers shared a first wicket stand of 56 in 4.4 overs before Athanaze fell for 34 from 20 deliveries. He was quickly followed by Micah Joseph (21) one over later and from there on, the run-rate started climbing and wickets fell at regular intervals. Dominica finished 126/8 from their 20 overs.
