Social Scientist Simeon Joseph has praised Mrs Bertilia McKenzie, General Manager of DOMLEC, for her exemplary leadership, effective management, and executive approach in addressing the recurring power outages experienced on the island. He highlighted that while there are many individuals in leadership positions like Ms. McKenzie, they often shy away from taking responsibility and being held accountable for inadequate services provided to the people. Therefore, it is important to recognize and commend Ms. Bertilia McKenzie for her efforts.

​Joseph stated that there are several important lessons to be learned from Mrs McKenzie's statement. He also mentioned that McKenzie indicated that her staff had been communicating with the public about the issue and she felt compelled, as the company's leader, to express her concern to the people. According to Joseph, this sets a precedent for CEOs in Dominica.
