Darina Ambrose appeared before Magistrate Bernard Pacquette yesterday, and pleaded guilty to the charge. She told the court that she was defending herself after Samuel interfered in an argument she was having with her cousin, at a fast food restaurant on the Roseau River Bank. Ambrose testified that although Samuel was told the argument was none of his business, he still interfered and struck her twice; and she stabbed him in self-defense, as a consequence. The police report indicated that Ambrose pulled a small pair of scissors out of her bag, and stabbed Samuel in his head, hand and abdomen. He was transported to the Accident & Emergency Department of the Princess Margaret Hospital, where he was examined and treated by a medical doctor. The prosecution also revealed in court, that Ambrose has a history of violence, including two separate charges of wounding, and was fined for charges of battery and threats. She was also previously incarcerated for three months after she failed to pay one thousand five hundred dollars in fines within six months.
