A group of students from the Agro-Campus Guadeloupe is now visiting the island to study about Dominica's agricultural methods and best practices, which are used to varied degrees by our farmers in subsistence, large-scale, commercial, and organic agriculture. The institution that trains students interested in professions in agriculture or who want to get certification in the sector makes sure that the training is varied and exposes them to Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA), Manufacturing, and Processing throughout the value chain. The students will be hosted by employees from the East Agricultural Region in the Kalinago Territory and will visit cattle, banana, and plantain farms, an organic farm in Bellevue Chopin, a day at the Farmer Service Center, and tour stops across the island. Students arrived in Dominica on Friday, January 19th, and will depart on Sunday, January 30th, 2023. The trip's organizer, Frederique Landro, stated that the trip is focused on how people may use organic banana waste from poultry, and students will investigate the ways and practices on the island to see whether it is viable to bring back to Guadeloupe. Landro continued by giving details on the Agro-Campus located in Guadeloupe adding that it is owned by an agricultural company. Frederique Landro, Trip organizer for the Agro-Campus in Guadeloupe.
