Domlec is looking to ensure that it makes a profit and is adding a $5Dollar minimum charge to its pay-as-you go system. The company says the reason behind this charge is to better deal with the high cost of reconnecting customers, whilst maintaining a profit. This is according to Senior DOMLEC Customer Representative Edison St Jean. Mr. St. Jean says while they are providing customer service, they need to function in a profitable environment. He used the example of having to connect a customer who lives at a distance, and said that it doesnot make economic sense for the company to travel long distances to reconnect dur to a $1Dollar disconnection. It is for this reason a case was made to the IRC, which considered both the company and the customers interests, and after this was analyzed, an amount was approved of $5.00 minimum top up.
