Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, along with Foreign Affairs Minister, Francine Baron, National Security Minister, Rayburn Blackmoore, and Police Inspector Pellam Jno Baptist, have filed a lawsuit against Miami-based blogger Kenneth Rijock, for failing to retract alleged statements made concerning blank Dominican passport forms to Moroccan Ambassador to Dominica, Mohamed Benjilany. Host of ‘Talk on the Block,’ and ‘The Hot Seat’, Matt Peltier, and Q95fm Radio are also being sued in the matter as second and third defendants. The lawsuit was filed on 15th May 2017, at the High Court in Roseau Dominica. Attorney Anthony Astaphan had this to say: In response, Rijock told Q95 he has no fear regarding this lawsuit, and dismissed Astaphan’s claims, which characterized him as a fraudster and a self-proclaimed journalist. Rijock also denied claims that he has been subject to numerous lawsuits for publishing his articles. In addition, Rijock says is going to defend himself zealously, and added that the matter is going to have casualties, and could lead to the fall of the Government of Dominica. Rijock’s allegations were reportedly dismissed by the Ministry of National Security, and he was advised to retract the statements or face court action. He told Q95fm radio, he would not apologize for stating the truth. The lawsuit was filed at the High Court in Roseau on Monday, 15th May 2017.
