UWI suffered EC$800,000 in damages post Hurricane Maria says Open Campus Director Dr Francis Severin3/26/2018 Director of Open Campus Country Site at the University of the West Indies Dr Francis Severin says the university has suffered EC$800,000 in damages post hurricane Maria. He made the disclosure at the recognition of graduates’ ceremony at the Truth & Grace Fellowship Global church last week. Dr Severin says just over 200 students are currently enrolled in online program this semester. Severin also expressed his disappointment in the fact that individuals looted and vandalized the campus following hurricane Maria. Meanwhile Dr Severin has called for a united approach in dealing with the effects of natural disasters. Director of Open Campus Country Site at the University of the West Indies Dr Francis Severin 52 individuals were recognized at the graduation ceremony last Thursday. Meanwhile PS in the Ministry of Education Chandler Hyacinth has commended the efforts of the UWI Open Campus Dominica in creating easier access to tertiary education for Dominicans. According to Hyacinth the mission of the Ministry of Education is equivalent to that of the UWI Open Campus. She says the main goal is to develop Dominica's human resource capacity. The ministry of Education worked in collaboration with the UWI Open Campus in hosting an online degree program for Principals, Deputy Principals and senior teachers back in 2015 24 out of the 25 participants have successfully completed the education enhancement project.
