Now (UWP) Senator, candidate for the Roseau Valley Constituency, and Attorney, Ronald Charles, was officially sworn-in as a member of the House of Parliament and UWP Senator, in Parliament on 21st January 2019. Charles replaces former United Workers Party (UWP) Senator Dr. Thomson Fontaine, who was removed from that position, due to his absence at three consecutive sittings of Parliament, without the expressed authority of the Speaker of the House of Assembly. Charles received his instrument of appointment on Friday, 11th January, Dominica’s President, Charles Savarin.
