UWP held two more massive peaceful public meetings last night, to loud chants of ‘Skerrit must go’3/31/2017 Photo: Hector John The United Workers Party (UWP) Team Dominica held two more massive peaceful public meetings last night in Pottersville and Roseau, which were frequently punctuated with loud chants of ‘Skerrit must go’. Supporters turned up in large numbers from every constituency around Dominica, to stand in solidarity with the UWP. US-based Dominicans in Defence of Democracy addressed the large gathering via a video presentation, from Washington DC.
Speaker after speaker gave reasons why Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and his entire cabinet should resign from office. They highlighted some of the failures and shortcomings of the DLP Regime, including dishonesty, lack of accountability, lack of transparency, oppression of opposition, failure to provide jobs for the people of Dominica, and the failure to develop the economy of Dominica, after being in office for seventeen (17) continuous years. Many speakers lamented the un-transparent management of the CBI program and the lack of accountability of the proceeds of the CBI, as well as the issue of diplomatic passports to persons who were subsequently arrested, some of whom are now awaiting trial in courts in the UK and the United States. And many more speakers outlined what a UWP Administration would do for the people of Dominica, in terms of strong Agriculture, Tourism, Agribusiness, Manufacturing, Sporting facilities, Modern Healthy lifestyles, Technology based industries and more, with Jobs, better health, higher living standards and prosperity for all Dominicans, and especially for the poor and underprivileged. UWP Leader Lennox Linton lifted the enthusiasm of the large crowd to the highest levels of the evening, as he spoke about the UWP’s plans to transform Dominica into the best place to work, the best place to live, and the best place to enjoy life. Linton brought the curtains down with a pledge to lead the United Workers Party to a sound victory at the next general election, whenever it is called, and ensuring that there are no more elections in Dominica without necessary election reforms. Q95 will bring you more from the speakers at the UWP public meeting, in their own words, in subsequent newscasts.
