UWP Leader challenges PM’s stand against Dominicans returning home from Hurricane ravaged countries9/13/2017 Leader of the United Workers Party (UWP) Lennox Linton has responded to statements made by Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit at a press conference on Monday, suggesting that Dominicans resident in the Caribbean countries that were recently ravaged by Hurricane Irma, should stay in those countries to help rebuild them. According to Mr Skerrit, there are a many Dominicans residing in these countries, and it would be a bad idea for them to leave these countries now. PM Roosevelt Skerrit Meantime the UWP Leader says World Leaders like Emmanuel Macron are currently advising individuals who would not be able to assist in the recovery efforts, to return to their country of origin for the duration of recovery works. Linton added that the position of the UWP on this matter is simple. Dominicans who are not needed or are unable to find employment during the recovery efforts, should be allowed to come home to Dominica to alleviate the burdens in Anguilla, the Dutch and French island of St Marten, and the British Virgin Islands.
