UWP Leader condemn Government silence on Denzil Douglas Dominica Diplomatic Passport Court Fiasco2/14/2018 UWP Leader Lennox Linton has condemned the behavior of St Kitts & Nevis Opposition Leader and Former Prime Minister Dr Denzil Douglas, in an ongoing fiasco regarding a case of a Dominica Diplomatic Passport, which is now in the courts of St Kitts & Nevis Dr Douglas is being represented by Dominica’s Senior Council Anthony Astaphan. Recently, Dr Denzil Douglas and the St Kitts Government went to court for a ruling as to whether Dr Douglas should be barred from Parliament, because he reportedly holds a Dominica Diplomatic Passport. Attorney Anthony Astaphan, who is Douglas’ representative in the matter, said Dr Douglas is not guilty of swearing allegiance to Dominica. However, the St Kitts & Nevis’ government insists that he is, and is seeking a court judgment in the matter. Astaphan told St Kitts based WINN FM’s Clive Bacchus, that a holder of a Dominican diplomatic passport “does not take an oath of allegiance and doesn’t have to be a citizen of Dominica.” Douglas maintains that he only has allegiance to federation of St Kitts & Nevis and is not in contravention of it’s constitution.
