UWP Leader responds to PM’s accusation that oppositions parties encouraged violence on Tuesday2/10/2017 UWP Leader Lennox Linton has responded to Prime Minister Skerrit’s accusation that the UWP and the Dominica Freedom Party aided and abetted the violent acts which took place on February 7, 2017. Linton says he was in the center of danger trying to calm the crowd which decided to remain after their peaceful protest was concluded, but police officers may have been under political instruction. Linton added, this action by DLP government is an effort to advance their political agenda, and to rid the country of its Opposition Political Parties. Meanwhile, Lennox Linton believes the DLP Administration may have facilitated what transpired in Roseau on Tuesday night. Thousands attended and participated in a peaceful protest action which concluded successfully earlier on Tuesday. But violence erupted several hours later in Roseau.
Linton is questioning the police approach toward some persons who remained behind, several hours after the protect had ended. He is expressing surprise at the resistance toward allowing UWP and other leaders to assist in dispersing the people who were still in the street.
