The Waterfront and Allied Workers Union (WAWU) has expressed that it is concerned about the posture of the administrative section of the Labour Ministry, where disputes are normally settled between the Union’s executive and the administrative branch of the Ministry. WAWU Secretary Treasurer Kertiste Augustus told Q95 news that on Wednesday he sought an audience with the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Labour, to report an outstanding matter that is before her ministry and he was given a ‘run around.’ Augustus says this dispute was declared by the Union on 7th January 2020, and deals with the management of the West Coast Cooperative Credit Union. He continued further by making a call to the Minister for Labour to intervene in this situation to resolve communication between the Union and the Administrative staff of the Labour Ministry.
