4 students to finish high school at US boarding schools courtesy of the MDC US Study Program9/24/2026 Four students, Gabrielle St. Jean, Abria Bannis, Kherna Stevens, and Nkosi Woodley, are starting a new journey to complete their high school education at boarding schools in the United States.
The four students received placements at Oregon Episcopal School in Oregon, Grand River Academy in Ohio, Wayland Academy in Wisconsin, and St. Mary’s in North Carolina through the Marigot Development Corporation (MDC) US Study Program – Boarding School Section. MDC, in a press release, said it was proud to send them off to transformative educational experiences at some of the United States’ leading boarding schools. The program is now in its 14th year. The four students, over the next three years, will be challenged to excel academically, develop their leadership and personal skills, and experience cultures and perspectives beyond home. MDC added that their boarding-school experience will also prepare them for entry into universities in the United States and elsewhere, while helping to shape them into confident, capable, and globally minded citizens. Their achievements demonstrate the tremendous potential of young people from Dominica and the wider Caribbean when given access to quality educational opportunities. The MDC wished each student every success. May they embrace every opportunity, overcome every challenge, and continue to make their families, communities, and countries proud.
