Agriculture Minister Roland Royer commend Gilles Carbon Jno Baptiste of Capuchin on her selection as one of the FAO’s 100 Women Heroes in agrifood systems and rural development

Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue & Green Economy, Roland Royer, extended congratulations to Gilles Carbon Jno Baptiste of Capuchin following her selection as one of the Food and Agriculture Organization's 100 Women Heroes in agrifood systems and rural development. 

Royer expressed extreme pride as Agriculture Minister & parliamentary representative for the Cottage constituency, noting that Jno Baptiste's achievement brings immense honor to her local community and the nation as a whole. He remarked that her more than four decades of dedicated farming serve as a powerful testament to what commitment, perseverance, and a deep connection to the land can accomplish. 

Royer emphasized that Jno Baptiste's work demonstrates how farming extends beyond food production to encompass community service, knowledge sharing, & building national resilience. He said this global recognition shines a light on the vital contributions of Dominican women farmers who play a critical role in ensuring national food security. 

Offering congratulations on behalf of the government and his constituents, Royer expressed hope that Jno Baptiste’s milestone will inspire younger generations, particularly women, to view agriculture as a dignified and rewarding sector of opportunity.
