Agriculture Minister, Johnson Drigo, says some 40,000 banana plantlets imported into Dominica are doing exceptionally well.
The plantlets, sourced from France, formed part of Government's efforts to revitalise the banana industry after being dealt a hard blow by the Black Sigatoka disease in 2015. Drigo, speaking with the Government Information Service, said the plantlets were distributed to over 40 farmers in Calibishie and Castle Bruce to conduct the pilot project for the revitalisation of the industry. After a site visit to the farms last week, Drigo is convinced that the banana sub-sector is on the rise.
