Assistant Forest Officer, Cyrille John, is fearful of a recurrence of the devastation caused by Tropical Storm Erika if Dominica should experience that much rainfall again. Speaking on the occasion marking International Forest Day recognized on Monday, John says following the storm, a number of the trees along the river banks were swept away, while some are dying as a result of excess siltation. Meanwhile, he says large volumes of soil along the river beds from massive landslides, pose a serious threat, if a large volume of rainfall was to occur. John was speaking on State-owned Radio on Monday as part of activities to commemorate International Forest Day 2016
