Assuming office as the sixth Commonwealth Secretary-General today, Baroness Patricia Scotland, states that she is no longer simply Antiguan or Dominican but a national of 53 countries.
In her closing remarks at the 15th Conference of Presidents and Governors-General in Antigua and Barbuda she stated upon her return to London she will carry the Caribbean spirit with her so that over the next four years the Commonwealth will be led by a Caribbean spirit. Scotland is the first Female Commonwealth Secretary-General.
