Caribbean Wellness Day 12-year-old theme changed to “Power through Collective Action; Stronger together 2020”,to address the epidemic of NCDs severely impacting the region’s health, economy & development
Caribbean Wellness Day 12-year-old theme has been changed from “Love that Body” to “Power through Collective Action; Stronger together 2020”, in order to address the epidemic of NCDs that is severely impacting the region’s health, economy and development.
The CARICOM Conference Heads of Government in 2007 embarked on an initiative geared toward increasing awareness & promoting measures among CARICOM Member States and their populations,and declared the second Saturday of September ‘Caribbean Wellness Day’ (CWD).
The objectives for CWD 2020 are to:
(i) Raise awareness about mental illness and mental health;
(ii) Address stigma and
(iii) Promote coping strategies aimed at reducing stress, especially during this COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ministry continues to encourage others to become partners and embrace this year’s theme ‘Stronger Together 2020’.
