The Castle Bruce Health Team has conducted a training session for staff of the ‘Yes We Care’ Programme as part of activities for Caribbean Wellness Month, aimed at strengthening their knowledge and practical skills in caring for vulnerable individuals. According to a post on the social media page of the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Social Services, the session focused on several key areas, including personal hygiene and proper handwashing practices, wound care, medication management and dementia care. The training provided participants with guidance on recognizing signs of wound infections, appropriate dressing techniques, prescription refills, medication storage and adherence, as well as approaches to supporting people living with dementia. The Ministry said the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to ensure community caregivers are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to provide safe, confident and compassionate care to vulnerable people. The Castle Bruce Health Team also plans to continue the training sessions with Yes We Care staff as it seeks to build caregiving capacity and further strengthen support for vulnerable members of the community.
