Team Leader of the Misión Milagro project, Yolimar Alberti confirms cataracts are the most Dominant eye issue she has seen in patients here.
Speaking through interpreter Daniela Valera, Alberti says due to the age of patients seen in Dominica since their arrival, cataract removal surgery is most recommended.
Misión Milagro is expected to return to Dominica sometime next year, to perform necessary surgical procedures after further study in Venezuela.
Misión Milagro or “Miracle Mission” is a Humanitarian project that began on July 8, 2004, led by the governments of Cuba and Venezuela. It aims to help those with low incomes, so that they can achieve adequate eye care for various eye problems.
