Chief Elections Officer, Stephen Larocque, has said things are progressing smoothly ahead of the June 7 by-election in the Soufriere constituency. The by-election became necessary following the resignation of Ian Pinard as MP for that constituency because of what he says were allegations of inappropriate behaviour made against him. Larocque says procedures of a general election will apply with the removal of all political paraphernalia in the constituency and the demarcation of the 100 yards of all polling stations.
