Chief Veterinarian concerned about Anti-Microbial Resistance or Antibiotics being used too frequently in society
Tuesday 15th March 2016 marked observance of World’s Consumer Rights Day, and Chief Veterinarian Dr. Reginald Thomas has expressed concern about Anti-Microbial Resistance or Antibiotics, being used too frequently in society.
Dr Thomas stressed that statistics indicate, if individuals continue using Anti-Microbial Resistance at this rate, by 2030 the human race will experience a “Rude awakening”, in that the diseases which were once controlled via the use of Antibiotics, will no longer be controllable by them, as the human body would have developed a resistance to the drug.
Thomas says the same applies to the animal kingdom as similar Antibiotics are used to treat animals.
