Citizens being called upon to realize the progress made since TS Erika as Dominica steps into the Independence Celebrations
Dominicans are being called upon to reflect on the past in order to recognize the progress the country has made thus far.
This as Dominica launched its annual Independence Celebrations Wednesday.
And 1 year following the aftermath of TS Erika, the country looks forward to further development under the independence theme "Strengthening our commitment to Nation Building."
The independence celebrations were last year affected by the passage of TS Erika and as a result a number of the activities which make up the celebrations were either cancelled or scaled down on.
Minister for Culture, Justina Charles, is urging Dominicans to put aside their differences in an effort to focus on country rebuilding and development.
Over the years, Dominica's independence celebrations have run from mid-September to mid-November.
Charles is appealing to Dominicans to take pride in country and the celebration of independence.
